Questions & Answers
Are these just one ring? These sets are two, three, four, five, etc. individual rings that stack together to form one unit. They are semi-precious gemstones set in sterling silver, 14k gold or a combination of the two. Because these rings stack and fit together, they can be rearranged to suit your personal preference for the day. These stacking rings are more comfortable than one solid ring of the same width because the rings flex as you move your finger.
Are the stones set in these rings traditional birthstones? Some stones are traditional and others are selections this particular manufacturer has decided upon to help keep pricing more affordable. Note that this is our first collection that offers the traditional June birthstone "Moonstone" and the May birthstone "Chrysophrase" as options for cabochon rings.
Are all stones in this collection genuine? All of the stones offered in this collection are genuine with the exception of Moissanite which is a man-made stone used in place of a diamond. It is a much more affordable lab created stone.
About the opals used in this collection... The opals set in the silver mountings are Australian opals cut as "triplets" A triplet is a thin layer of opal that is topped with clear gem quality crystal and backed with a black stone such as onyx. It's much more durable in an everyday ring than a solid opal. Some of the finest and most colorful precious opal in the world is formed in layers too thin to be cut into solid stones. Opals set in gold are gem quality solid opals, also from Australia.
How do I properly care for these rings? Can I go swimming wearing this ring? The mfr. does not recommend swimming while wearing their rings. To care for your rings, avoid prolonged immersion in water, any detergents, cleaning solutions, chlorinated or very hot water, beach sand or abrasives. Remove your rings when gardening, working out at the gym, repairing the car, etc. To clean your rings, use a soft jeweler's polishing cloth periodically to shine them up. DO NOT USE DIP TARNISH REMOVERS! They etch the surface of the metal and will actually make your silver tarnish more quickly. If you store your rings, wrap them in acid-free tissue paper after a quick wipe with a cloth, rather than keeping them in a baggie. Storage in baggies will also contribute to tarnishing. Cared for in the recommended way, your jewelry will give you many years of enjoyment. Complete care instructions are included with each purchase.
